A look at our hotel, the grounds, and the town of Orebic.  Viewed from the pool area, you can just about see the monastery on the hillside.  Note, too, the usual overcrowding of the poolside sun loungers.

Orebic

Orebic is on the Peljesac peninsula, and the only way in or out is through Ston - hence the fortified walls.

Ston

Korcula is an island a few minutes boat ride from Orebic.  We took a boat directly from the hotel’s own jetty.  We could see Korcula town from our bedroom window, and the view was particularly pretty at night.  The long distance pictures were taken from the monastery.

Korcula

Unfortunately, we weren’t allowed to take pictures inside the monastery chapel, so we had to content ourselves with pictures of the graveyard and views of the sea and Korcula.  It was noticable that many of the graves were new - from the war in 1993, and most were of young men.

Monastery

More evidence of the war on many of the shell-scarred buildings.  Most of the major buildings had been restored - including the bridge that was symbolically blown up.  Just as symbolic was the fact that it was rebuilt using the original stones.
